Brian Segel oversees the firm's asset management affiliate, FSAM. FSAM structures, raises capital, and operates social impact funds, currently in New York City, Los Angeles, and Baltimore, for institutional clients. With investors from government, philanthropic, and banking sectors, the funds, including the NYC Acquisition Fund, New Generation Fund, and Neighborhood Impact Investment Fund, invest in transformative housing, commercial, and community development projects run by mission-oriented organizations.
Brian has over 30 years of cross-sector experience in the social investment field. He's held managerial positions with the New York State Housing Finance Agency; HSBC Bank USA; Low Income Investment Fund; National Equity Fund; and the MetLife Foundation, and began his career at City and State economic development agencies lending to small businesses in underserved neighborhoods. Brian was also Project Director with the New 42nd Street, Inc., chartered by the City and State of New York to revitalize New York's century-old theater corridor near Times Square.
Brian currently serves on the boards of the Supportive Housing Network of New York, and Restored Homes HDFC. He received master’s degrees from Harvard University and the London School of Economics, and a bachelor of arts from Oberlin College
